Artesunate is used for the treatment of severe malaria.This medicine is used together with other medicines like 8-aminoquinoline medicine to treat severe malaria caused by Plasmodium ovale or Plasmodium vivax.Artesunate belongs to a group of medicines known as antimalarials.It helps in the curing of malaria,a red blood cell infection transmitted by the bite of a mosquito.However,this medicine is not used to prevent malaria.The consultation of your doctor is mandatory before taking its dosage .It is particularly given in cases where oral administration is not possible and it can’t treat malaria which has affected the brains,lungs or kidneys .
