Description

Pantoprazole Injection is a medication that decreases the production of acid in your stomach. It treats acid diseases of the stomach and intestine, like acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It relieves symptoms as well as heals.

Additionally, pantoprazole injection is used to treat stress ulcers in severely ill patients and prior to anesthetic drugs to reduce the risk of aspiration-related side effects. It is a type of drug called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). This drug is injected into a vein by a medical professional and will only be given if your doctor believes at the time that an injection is more appropriate for you than a tablet. The amount will vary according to your underlying condition and how you react to the drug. Your doctor will determine how long you should take treatment, but you should continue taking it as directed, even if you feel better in a short time. You can make the treatment more effective by having small meals frequently and not consuming tea, coffee, spicy or fatty foods.

How should this medicine be taken?

  • Pantoprazole injection is available in a form that must be mixed with liquid and administered intravenously (into a vein) by a healthcare provider in a medical setting.
  • For the treatment of GERD, pantoprazole injection is given once daily for 7 to 10 days. For the treatment of conditions in which the stomach makes too much acid, pantoprazole injection is given every 8 to 12 hours.
