Description

Ondansetron Injection 2 mg – Ondansetron is a class of drugs known as ‘anti-emetics’ and is employed mainly in the prevention of vomiting (throwing up) and nausea (sickness) which tend to occur after cancer chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery. Nausea is an unpleasant sensation in which an individual experiences a need to vomit whereas vomiting is the body’s natural mechanism to forcibly expel the contents of the stomach.

DANTRON Injection has ‘Ondanestron’ as an active ingredient, which inhibits the effect of a chemical in the body (serotonin) that causes vomiting and nausea. Ondansetron thus prevents feeling nauseated and vomiting due to conditions such as surgery, cancer chemotherapy, pregnancy, or motion sickness.

Benefits

  • Ondansetron Injection is part of a class of drugs known as anti-emetics for the prevention of nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, pregnancy, and motion sickness in adults and children 4 years of age and older.
  • When serotonin rises in blood levels, it activates the CTZ receptor found in the brain that regulates nausea and vomiting.
  • Ondansetron works by blocking the release of serotonin and preventing nausea and vomiting.
